Oh, yeah! Gotta update!

So first, my apologies for the long hiatus from posting!! Now, to update everyone on the progress, slow though it has been with the holidays and such.

The rooftop unit is IN! Or ON as the case may be...

Just on little hitch: I'm still looking for a plumber who can actually run the gas line to the roof for the unit. I've called a handful, only two of which have returned my calls. One was 'too busy', and the other gave me an estimate for all of the plumbing of $8000, which seems very high, even despite the scope. The search continues for a roofer as well to flash around the new penetrations through the roof (caused by the ductwork and the gas and electric lines). At least this matter may be resolved this week, as I expect to have at least one estimate from a roofer this week.

In the interim I've done more demo, taking out the doorway and wall between the living room and kitchen, and also taken off the plaster on the stair wall. Additionally, the carpet is now off of the stairs, which will soon receive a fresh coat of paint. The ceiling in the living room has begun to come down as necessitated by the new ductwork (which will have much less visual impact on the ceiling than the previous ductwork) and some electrical work.

Thanks to assistance from friend Chris, the rear bedroom wall has been painted with a moisture lock paint, and thanks to David the track is almost all up. Next will be insulation.

Speaking of help, thanks are due to friends Adam, Chris, Brody, Jimmy and Andrew for helping to clear out all of the demo debris from the back yard!!

As mentioned, the ductwork is almost all in. The mechanical contractor has installed metal ductwork on the first floor, pushing this as close to the ceiling and side wall as possible to allow for the smallest necessary bulkhead, a big improvement over the previous condition. Flex duct is being used on the second floor to feed the bedrooms and bathrooms. The main trunk duct (pictured at right) was installed to occupy as little floor space as necessary, and was actually installed as close to the side wall as possible, though had to be spaced out from the wall due to the existing plumbing riser. This will all be contained in a chase.
